How to choose a B2B data provider for GCC companies

Every provider claims global coverage. For Gulf accounts, the only number that matters is how many of your own companies come back correct.

Written by the ApiOne team. Facts checked September 2026.

Why the Gulf is a special case

Three things make GCC company data harder than US or European data. Many mid-market companies run Arabic-first websites. English-language press and professional-network coverage is thinner outside the largest groups. And the same company appears under several names: an Arabic legal name, an English brand, and a transliteration with a legal form such as ذ.م.م, W.L.L. or FZ-LLC. A provider can look strong on a demo list of well-known startups and still miss most of your pipeline.

The 30-minute test

  1. Pick 20 accounts you know well. Mix sizes and countries. Include at least five companies with Arabic-first websites and five below 50 employees.
  2. Write down the truth first. For each, note the headquarters city, industry and a rough headcount from your own knowledge.
  3. Run them through each provider. Same 20 domains, same day.
  4. Score three things: how many returned anything at all, how many had a correct headquarters and industry, and how many had a value that was confidently wrong.
  5. Check the misses. A provider that returns a blank is safer than one that returns a wrong city. Count confident errors as worse than gaps.

What to ask every vendor

QuestionGood answer
Where does a Gulf company's data come from?Named source types, including live sources
Do you show the source for each field?Yes, per field
What do I pay when you find nothing?Nothing
How do you handle Arabic names and legal forms?A concrete method, not "we support Unicode"
How fresh is funding and headcount?A date or a live lookup, not "updated regularly"

Where ApiOne fits

ApiOne was built for this test. Company lookups read live evidence including the company's own website, every answer lists its sources, unknown values come back null, and a miss costs nothing. It also offers company search by country, hiring signals and Arabic/English name matching. It is slower than a stored database, 5 to 9 seconds for a fresh company lookup, so many teams run it as the fallback after a global provider.

Run your 20 domains on the free tier and compare. That is a better guide than any vendor page, including this one.

Frequently asked questions

Which provider has the best coverage in Saudi Arabia?

It depends on your segment. Run the 20-account test above on your own list; results differ a lot between enterprise groups and SMEs.

Should I use one provider or several?

For Gulf accounts, usually several in a waterfall: a global provider first, then a provider built for the region for what comes back empty.
